The Artist Series

The Artist series uses Patrick White’s 1970 text ‘The Vivisector’based upon the on the life of a fictional artist Hurtle Duffield. They are a mixture of physical and digital works where painting, drawing and digital techniques were mixed in working into the book. It is treated in a similar approach to the 1970 work of Tom Phillips ‘A Humament’ where the artist took a Victorian novel as the basis for a visual reinterpretation through multiple artistic techniques to render the work as a visual experience. Patrick White’s book and subject matter seemed an appropriate basis for this interpretative work.
