These paintings form part of a series inspired by William Blake, revisiting metaphysical themes of the past. Between the symbolic and representational exist ideas and experiences, suggestive rather than defined or justified. Text occupies part of the work in a reflective almost whispered presence recounting artists who have inhabited and ignited my imagination as allies. Outlines of recalled human and animal forms share the space, while the two black ink symbolic poles are bridged by white graphic gestural marks referencing medieval interpretations of cloud and wind formations and the movement of water. Binary presentation of male and female forces.
